The Springfield Area Nativity Theatre Association (S.A.N.T.A.) will present its Annual Outdoor Nativity Pageant Saturday, Dec. 13, and Sunday, Dec.
Named the “Best Outdoor Pageant in the State of Minnesota” in 2017 by WCCO television, it has been a holiday tradition for many for the past thirty-nine years.
The Nativity Pageant is a re-enactment of the story of the First Christmas, telling the story of Mary and Joseph and the birth of Baby Jesus in Bethlehem. It is presented by an all-volunteer cast in narration form along with accompaniment by a community choir and live animals including camels. What makes it unique (and sometimes challenging) is that it is presented outdoors amidst a Minnesota winter.
The Pageant will be each evening at 6 p.m. on the east parking lot of the Springfield Area Community Center. There has never been a admission charge to attend — it is considered a gift from the community.
