If you’re looking for a little help with your Christmas shopping this holiday season, don’t bother trying to contract an elf, the Tracy Kiwanis Club is here to help — and give back to Tracy area youth at the same time.
Tracy’s more-than-100year-old organization has put together the first-of-itskind Holiday Hometown Raffle called “Kiwanis 4 Kids,” with 100% of the proceeds going to scholarships for Tracy Area High School seniors and to support even younger learners.
Starting this week, 400 special raffle tickets will go on sale for just $5. A ticket — or tickets — puts you in the running to be a recipient of a sleigh full of gift cards (or maybe a different kind of stocking stuffer) from more than 25 Tracy and area businesses; you can purchase a ticket or two through Dec. 17, with names of the five winners to be drawn the following day.
The first name drawn will win the grand prize of $580 worth of prizes; the second name drawn will win $280; third, $210; fourth, $195; and fifth, $165. Winners will be contacted by phone on Dec. 19, and can make arrangements to pick up their winnings at that time. Tickets are available from any Kiwanis member, or at the Tracy Area Headlight Herald, Tracy Insurance or Minnwest Bank. Kiwanis members who need tickets to sell can pick them up at the Headlight.
If you are not a business owner or tied to a local business but want to donate to a future Kiwanis fundraiser, send an email to [email protected] The Kiwanis Club’s mission is to give back to local youth, and the group hopes this fundraiser is one of many more to come.
