Makotah Reconciliation and Healing Horse Ride participants will ride through Westbrook on Dec. 20 to honor the 38 Dakota men who were hanged in December 1862; it was one of the largest mass executions in U.S. history.

The RTR Honor Society is once agains spreading holiday cheer through its annual “Christmas is for Caring” program. Students in grades 11-12 with a 3.6 or higher GPA are eligible to join the Honor Society and each year they devote their time and energy to supporting local families during the holiday season.

New this year to HPS is a Christmas Dinner Theater, and Hendricks High School students will present a oneact play titled “A Candy Kane Christmas” on Dec. 12 and Dec. 13.

The Ag Plus Cooperative convenience store on Hwy. 59 in Slayton will close at the end of the year. It is currently one of four convenience stores in Slayton.
