Balaton man killed in rollover accident

A 19-year-old man Balaton man and Tracy Area High School graduate was killed in a rollover-type crash on Saturday, shortly after midnight.

Talan Greve, believed to be the driver of the vehicle in question, was found unconscious and unresponsive at the scene with significant traumatic injuries. The incident took place at the intersection of Lyon County Road 63 and 120th St., south of Balaton, according to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office. Greve was transported to Sanford Tracy, where he was pronounced dead.

A second person in the vehicle, Hunter Gilbertson, 18, sustained injuries, but was responsive, and conscious and was treated at Sanford Tracy.

Both Greve and Gilbertson were ejected from the vehicle.

Funeral services for Greve, a 2025 graduate, are at 11 a.m. Friday at Grace Life Church in Marshall.

The crash is under investigation by the LCSO and Minnesota State Patrol. The Balaton Fire Department, Balaton Ambulance and Tracy Ambulance assisted at the scene.
