“We had three starters out with illness for this event, so we are hoping to get healthy this week as we travel to a dual tourney in New Richland on Friday to face a good Goodue team, as well as Westfield, who is also tough,” TMB/WWG coach Karl Campbell said. “We will get three duals on Friday with the third round determined by pool results. The other potential opponent will either be West Central, Blue Earth or New Richland.”
Logan Petersen (121 pounds) defeated eighthranked Lane Fruechte from Pipestone Area to take first in his weight division. At 139 pounds, David Schuh cruised to a championship with two pins and is now 14-1 and ranked No. 4 in Class A at 139 pounds.
At 189 pounds, Lawton Verlinde went 2-0 to win his bracket and improve to 13-2 on the season.
At 145 pounds, Nolan Verlinde took second, losing to Benson’s Max Nygaard, who is ranked fifth in Class A.
Taylor Squires (133) placed second, with his only loss coming in the finals to the Mason Fruechte, Class A’s No. 4-ranked wrestler from Pipestone Area. Weston Marten was 3-1 on the day, losing only to the returning state champion from Pipestone Area. Marten earned his 25th pin and 60th career victory.
Tyler Arnold (152) and Baxter Pfarr (172) both finished fourth with 1-2 records. Adam Hippe was 1-3 and also finished fourth.
For the Panther girls, only one wrestler competed. Jayda Snyder was 2-0 and took first place in 130-pound division.
