Maxine Timmerman

Mass of Christian Burial for Maxine Timmerman, 80, of Balaton, took place Monday, December 29, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy. Interment followed the service at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Tracy.

Maxine Delores Timmerman was born on May 30, 1945, to Nels and Myrtle (Warne) Paulson in DeSmet, SD. She was the seventh of eleven children. Maxine spent her childhood in South Dakota. She graduated from Erwin High School in 1964.

On August 28, 1965, Maxine was united in marriage to her life-long partner, George Victor Timmerman in Tracy, MN at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. They celebrated over 60 years together and shared many happy memories. They lived in a mobile home around Iowa while George worked in road construction for 12 years. They welcomed their first daughter Patricia in 1966, their second daughter Connie in 1967, and their third daughter Sherrie 1971. They bought a house in Eldridge, Iowa when Patty was ready to start school. In 1977, she moved with her family to Minnesota as George took over the family farm. She enjoyed gardening and canning her own food. She relished visiting with people and was always making new friends. Maxine was mostly a stay-at-home mom, but she did work at the Balaton Nursing Home for a short time as a kitchen aide.

Maxine and George traveled when they were able and visited many different places. They took the family on a yearly vacation to Wisconsin Dells. She adored getting together with her sisters and all the excursions they would go on. She also loved spending time with her family. She had a kind heart and was a very special lady.

Maxine died peacefully at Ava’s Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD surrounded by family on Friday, December 19, 2025, after her battle with congestive heart failure. She will be greatly missed, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.

Maxine is survived by her two daughters, three grandchildren, three greatgrandchildren, and three siblings. She is preceded in death by her husband, her youngest daughter, her parents, and seven siblings.
