TMB/WWG 1-1 at RCW, in Marshall today

The busy Panther wrestlers lost to United 47-21 and defeated Quad County 42-27 on Tuesday.

“United is very good through their middle weights and are currently mentioned in the AA team rankings,” TMB/WWG coach Karl Campbell said. “The team did not compete to their potential. We are in the middle of a grind with a lot of matches in a short period of time and a number of kids looked like it. One highlight in this match was Weston (Marten) knocking off the No. 6-ranked 133-pounder in Class AA. He did so with a late third period throw for a takedown and near fall points.”

TMB/WWG was the beneficiaries of five forfeits against Quad County. “Lawton (Verlinde) lost in the ultimate tiebreaker to the No. 9-ranked kid in Class A at 215; he was giving up 25 pounds, and was in position to win multiple times. It was a good measuring stick for him.”

After Thursday’s quad in Marshall, TMB/WWG will travel to Canby on Saturday for the Camden Confernce Individual Tournament. After that, the Panthers are off until a Jan. 22 home triangular against Adrian-Ellsworth and Pipestone area.
