Tracy area United Fund appreciates support

The Tracy Area United Fund Board members would like to thank the individuals, local businesses and corporations who made contributions to the 2025 United Fund Drive.

We exceeded our goal and were able to distribute $10,500 to benefit 24 organizations. We also received a special donation from Minnwest Bank. They applied for and received a grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank Des Moines through its Member Impact Fund. Minnwest Bank contributed $2,500 and FHLB Des Moines matched with $7,500 for a total award amount of $10,000. This amount was distributed among 20 organizations based right here in Tracy where it will make the greatest impact.

We previously recognized this award with a June photo in the Tracy Area Headlight Herald. In summary, the contributions received through our Fund Drive ($10,500) and the Minnwest Bank Grant ($10,000) allowed us to disburse a total of $20,500 this year! Together, we made a difference, locally and countywide.

We also want to thank the Tracy Area Headlight Herald staff and the City of Tracy Office Staff for their help and support.

We welcome any suggestions for improvements to our United Fund Drive. If you know of an organization that has not made a request for funding in the past but would like to be considered for next year, please contact any board member for more information.

Squatch is a Tracy ‘gem’

Just want to pop the spotlight on one of Tracy’s special downtown’s businesses. Recently, I took Grandma Jeannie to the Squatch Coffee shop for a cup of tea. Walking in the door we were greeted with warmth, upbeat positive music and genuine smiles. The great smells induced grandma to order a baby Squatch breakfast meal and a London Fog tea.

Laughing and raving over her meal, we decided to order a to-go meal for grandpa back home. Arika, the owner, made it, brought the to-go meal over and said it was on the house. She grabbed a chair and then had a delightful conversation with Grandma making her feel so special.

Talking to Arika, I found out she loves our town so much. She feels that she was called to literally serve and love the people of Tracy.

Maybe some of you don’t know, but there are a few things that her Coffee and Eats shop does to make Tracy a better place to be. She makes awesome fresh food every day. A lot of school-age kids love her food and drinks. Many of her specials include her Grandma’s actual recipes. She makes food deliveries all over town. Sunday nights she works up a menu for the week. People who need meals delivered can order and have them brought right to their door.

Having meal deliveries in a town is such a fantastic option for all of us. This is especially kind for the elderly people who need good meals delivered to their homes. She has a big room in back for groups to gather. The place is so warm and friendly. There are cozy spots all over to sit and visit with others. It’s really a town treasure.

Running a restaurant is hard work. And I’m so thankful to have the Squatch Coffee and Eats shop around. Tracy is full of great gems, and this business is a big blessing we all have the opportunity to support. Thank you Arika for investing so much into our small town!
