A number of TMB/WWG wrestlers competed in the MNGWL Region 2 Boys and Region 1 and 2 Girls’ qualifiers in Canby on Saturday.
Jaxter Pfarr and Bella Martinez both finished third; Reese Krick, Oakley Bornitz, Luke Millman, Noah Johnson and Jayda Snyder took fourth place; Sam Willhite, Christian Fransen and Braya Schreier were fifth; Andrew Hippe was seventh, and Sophia DelAngel and Lane Hoffman were eighth.
The top two finishers in each devision advance to state.
“We did feel as a coaching staff that the kids competed well, and it was one of the better showings we have had as a team at this event maybe ever,” TMB/WWG coach Karl Campbell said. “Jaxter got a true second match but came up short to a good Pipestone opponent. Reese was in a position to win his third-place match but made a mistake that cost him a true second match. Again, very proud of the efforts of how the boys competed in large competitive brackets. The girls competed in this for the first time and all got at least one win. Sophia had to injury default out of her third match which defaulted her to eighth; the other three all competed hard against some very good competition as well.”
The boys took seventh place overall, while the girls finished 11th.
