The TMB/WWG wrestling team fell to Canby 38-30 last Thursday in an exciting dual, then beat Luverne 39-22 and lost to section rival Fulda/ Murray County Central 39-22 in Slayton on Friday.

“Dual only which was a fun atmosphere; we don’t do many dual only events any more which is unfortunate,” TMB/WWG coach Karl Campbell said. “This one went down to the heavyweights. We needed to get one more match in the middle weights to get it done. We were missing Logan (Petersen) all last week which did effect team results in the three losses we had last week. Lawton (Verlinde) wrestled very well in this dual, getting a pin late in the match against a very good 215-pounder.”

Against Luverne, Weston Marten, Harrison Rentschler and Tyler Arnold earned wins; TMB/WWG other points came by forfeit.
“They have some good kids in this lineup,” Campbell said. “Weston beat a good kid at 127 in a tight match. Luverne is also very solid at 160 and 172.”
Campbell said the F/MCC match was closer than the score might indicate.
“Mua (Vang) had an exciting match, getting a decision in a match that we needed to win,” Campbell said. “Taylor winning at 3-2 decision over at 121 was a big win for the team and for him. Clarke is currently one of the top ranked 121-pounders in Class A. It was another good dual atmosphere in a hostile environment.
“We need to do a better job technique-wise in a number of areas if we are going to win duals like this one,” Campbell added.
The Panther boys will wrestle in Jackson on Friday, and the girls will travel to Redwood Falls on Friday and Saturday for the section tournament.
The sectoin team tournament for the boys will be Feb. 12 at the highest seeded team, with the “Final 4” Saturday in Wabasso.
