Sports Flashbacks

Excerpts from past Tracy newspapers Feb. 23, 1956 — The Scrapper boys’ basketball team won its first game win in 14 games, 57-54 win over Lamberton. Dan Walsh and a big 25 points, and Curt Paulsen contributed 17.

Feb. 24, 1966 — The Lamberton Blackhawks came from behind to edge the Scrappers, 61-59. Glen Withrow was the only Tracy player in double figures with 15 tallies.

Feb. 19, 1976 — John McCoy, Joe Schotzko, Dennis Hemish and Steve Lenertz of Tracy; and Loren Knakmuhs, Curt Parker, Todd Harrington, Owen Anderson and Jim DeSmith all gained a berth in the Region 3 Individual Wrestling Tournament.

Feb. 25, 1986 — Tracy beat Milroy 73-49 behind Steve Mickelson’s 23 points and another 20 from Doug Hatch. Both are juniors for the Scrappers.

Feb. 21, 1996 — The Tracy-Milroy boys’ basketball team continued its winning ways over Lincoln HI 58-36 Saturday. Luke Ostgaard led with 14 points, and Brad Hengel scored 10.

Feb. 24, 2016 — Tracy-Milroy-Balaton improved to 24-3 with a 58-45 section semifinal win over Windom Tuesday night at Jackson. Spencer Smith, who made 8-of-20 shots from the field and 9-11 free throws, led the Panthers with 25 points.
