It was a week filled with love, fun, and heartfelt laughter at Prairie View Senior Living as residents celebrated Valentine’s Week with meaningful activities, sweet treats, and special community connections.
The week kicked off Monday with a beloved tradition — Bingo. Residents gathered with anticipation and excitement as numbers were called and friendly competition filled the room.
On Tuesday afternoon, the dining room transformed into a kitchen as residents donned their chef hats and created their very own mini pizzas. The hands-on cooking activity sparked conversation and creativity. Later that evening, residents gathered for Storytime, sharing memories and reminiscing together, strengthening friendships through storytelling and laughter.
Wednesday morning offered a time of spiritual enrichment as Chapel was led by Pastor Miron, followed by Catholic Communion led by Bonnie B. In the afternoon, Valentine’s festivities officially began as residents crafted beautiful heartshaped creations, preparing for the days of celebration ahead.
Thursday proved to be especially memorable. The morning began with the men enjoying their “Barber Shop Talk,” sharing stories and camaraderie, while the ladies lined up to have their hair curled, makeup applied, and outfits selected for a special occasion. The excitement built throughout the day as Prairie View welcomed BB Photography for a professional Valentine’s photo shoot.
Residents beamed as they posed with roses, heart-shaped boxes of chocolates, festive Valentine hats, and playful glasses. The joy shining through the building was unforgettable. The laughter echoing down the halls and the radiant smiles captured on camera created memories that will be cherished for years to come.
Friday continued the Valentine spirit with a festive party. Residents enjoyed games, cupcakes, and warm conversations centered around Valentine’s Day traditions. Each resident received beautiful roses in a variety of colors along with heartfelt valentines from local schools and community members. The outpouring of love was deeply felt by all.
The celebration concluded Saturday with another lively game of Bingo. Congratulations to this week’s Bingo winners, Betty and Delores!
A heartfelt thank you goes to Brooke Bonderson of BB Photography for capturing such precious moments. Your talent and kindness made the day extra special. Appreciation is also extended to Greenwood Nursery for providing beautiful rose arrangements, and to AARP’s Wish of a Lifetime Cupid Crew program for sharing stunning roses with our residents.
This week was a powerful reminder of how a community can come together to spread love and kindness. At Prairie View, the spirit of Valentine’s Day was not just celebrated — it was truly felt.
