More than 80 attend Redwood County Republican Convention in Wabasso

Redwood County Republicans held their annual convention Saturday, March 7, at the Wabasso Community Center, with over 80 in attendance.

Several candidates were in attendance and spoke to the crowd. We were honored to have U.S. Congressional House of Representative for District 7, Michelle Fischbach, in attendance. She has served the 7th District since 2021 and has filed for re-election.

Gary Dahms, Senator for District 15 served as the convention Chairperson. He will be retiring at the end of this years’ term. A cake was served to the attendees in honor of his years of service. Tiffany-Lesmeister Knott, Brian Mock, and Braxton Seifert were in attendance and spoke to the crowd. They are running for the seat currently held by Senator Dahms as Senate District 15 Senator.

Anita Runck spoke on behalf of Lisa Demuth, Speaker of the House and candidate for governor. Brian Nicholson was also in attendance as the newly-chosen running mate of gubernatorial candidate Kendall Qualls, along with Phillip Parrish, also running for governor.

Other special guests included Geri Theis, candidate for House District 15B; Mark York, running for U.S. Senate; Dave Hughes, running for District 7 House; and Tad Jude running for Secretary of State.

A two-year term of delegates and alternates as Congressional District 7 representatives for Redwood County were elected. They will attend the District Conventions, being held this year at SMSU on April 25. State Delegates and Alternates were also elected and will be at the State Convention May 29-30 in Duluth.

Several resolutions were brought forward from Caucus. They were discussed and voted on, with several going forward to District 7 Convention for consideration.
