Excerpts from past Tracy newspapers 

March 24, 1966 — About 25 Tracy area bowlers participated in the recent 14th annual Half-Century tournament at Sioux Falls with some of them earning a sizeable amount of money in the various events. John Glaser with a 668 rated third in the singles event for bowlers over 50 and earned $50; Leo Shoeman ranked 10th with his 643 and earned $29.60, and Edson Starr with 610 placed 34th among 300 entries and earned $13. Leo Shoeman placed second in the special event with a game of 254 that netted him $38. Fay Morgan ranked 15th among 323 entries. He had a high game of 231 that return ed him $11.

March 18, 1976 — Junior Jim Trei was top scorer for the Tracy High School basketball for the 1975-76 basketball season. Trei scored 243 points in 24 games while junior guard Keith Hannasch was a close second with 237 points in 24 games. Trei then averaged 10.1 points per game and his high for the season was 26 points against Canby on Nov. 28. 1975. Hannasch averaged 9.4 points per game.

March 26, 1986 — Letterwinners have been announced for Tracy High School winter sports: Girls’ basketball: Kathy Jensen, Carin Creager, Shari Heidebrink, Julie West, Jenny Vandendriessche, Mary O’Rourke, Tammy Retzlaff, Ramona Schreier, and Elaine. Boys Basketball: Steve Mickelson, Mark Peterson, John Griffith, Robert Gervais, Greg Shaw, Stacy Sletten, Dru Larson, Doug Hatch, Kendall Osland, Dave Christian, Tom Nelson, and Jerome Frazier. Wrestling: Lee Ellingson, Bryan Richardson, Jay Holbrook, Tony Honnellio, Wade Landa, Brad Salmon, Terry Smith, Naoki Ban, Tom Byrne, Karl Campbell, Jason Pamp, Cory Schaller, Dave Freeburg, and Eric Trulock.

March 20, 1996 — The hour was late. But the mood couldn’t have been more upbeat, as fans welcomed home the Class A champion Panther basketball team Saturday night. “Three state championships in four years is amazing,” commented Supt. of Schools Harold Remme, decked out in a blue Panther T-shirt. “I’m going to have to keep ordering these banners,” the superintendent said, referring to the six state championship banners already hanging in the gym. The scene in the THS gymnasium was a familiar one. The bleachers were filled to capacity with applauding fans. Long rows of chairs, filled with coaches and athletes, faced the bleachers. For the seventh time since 1988, a gleaming state basketball or state volleyball championship trophy had been brought home from the Twin Cities. Tracy-Milroy has won the state Class A basketball championship in 1988, 1992 and now 1996. They finished as Class A volleyball champions in 1990,1992,1994, 1995.

March 22, 2006 — Letters for the TMB boys’ basketball team were awarded to Gary Knott and Derek Radke; juniors Kyle McIntire, Nick Soupir and Taylor Rignell; sophomores Andrew Prairie, Anthony Dolan, David Schmidt, Drew Nelson, Ryan Kaup, Spencer Zwaschka and Steve Paradis, plus freshman Isaac Dolan.

March 23, 2016 — Seniors on the 2016 Camden Conference champion boys’ basketball team were Riley Kirk, Josh Kirk, Derek Larson, Brett Swenhaugen, Brady Lanoue, Tanner Deming-Phelps, Hayden Sanders and Riley Engbarth.
