Milroy School Board approves final payments for 3 employees

As the final days of the Milroy School draw closer, the school board continues to make progress on multiple aspects of the consolidation with Tracy Area Public Schools.

During its regular meeting Monday night, the board approved end of contract payment agreements for three employees who didn’t fall under the union.

The board approved pay for vacation and sick pay up to $4,989 for Jason Dahl, custodian; and $2,450 for Robin Hauger, administrated assistant. The totals could decrease if any vacation days are used prior to the end of the school year.

In addition, after negotiations with the finance committee, the board approved 100% payout for unused vacation days, 60% payout for unused sick days, one year of HSA ($7,000) and up to $1,000 for the set up of a 401K, for a total package up to $36,771 for Supt. John Wiley.

The board also approved a motion to sell all remaining assets of the school once Tracy Area Public Schools have taken what they want to use after the consolidation. The school has sold the convection oven and range to Lynd School District. Wiley will take photos of the larger items that other schools may have use for. He sends them to SWWC, who in turn, shares them with school districts throughout the area. Once those items have been spoken for, the school will have a rummage sale that is open to everyone.

The school has also spent most of the REEP dollars it still had on chrome books and laptops that will transition with the students to TAPS. The board will also start to consider what will be done with the graduating class photos that grace the hallways. They are being scanned, and TAPS will add them to their digital archive but they do not have space to store the original frames and photos.

As far as the sale of the building, Wiley reported that the soil survey is 80% complete. The land survey is mostly complete, however, the parcel that includes the bus garage, which will be going to TAPS, extends across the street into the baseball field and wooded area. The City of Milroy, the surveyors and the lawyer for Milroy school will meet to get the parcel separated.
