Panther 9 earns 1st win, and it was a doozy

The Panthers scored what might very well be the most runs in program history on Monday, crushing Heron Lake-Okabena/ Fulda 21-0 to improve to 1-1 on the young season.

Jackson Kruse, Aiden Sanow and Brody Hauger all had two hits, as TMB had runners on the base paths all day. Kruse kicked on four and Sanow two. Taylor Squires and Connor Lanoue both walked three times, had a hit and scored four runs, and Brayden Marron had a single, walked, drove in one and scored twice.

“It wasn’t the best weather, but it didn’t impact the kids much,” TMB manager James Fultz said. “They were very locked in at the plate and took advantage or what HLOF was throwing. Tons of good stuff in the lineup from every hitter. We took 12 walks as a team and one hit batsmen. The defense was pretty clean behind Connor, making all the easy plays and keeping the game moving. A good win and we will look to go 2-0 on the week on Thursday.”

Lanoue threw all five innings, striking out nine and giving up just two hits for the Panthers, who are at YME today (April 9) for their third straight away game.

“Connor had a great bounce-back game on the mound after the Adrian game; all of his pitches were working,” said Fultz. “He was pitching ahead most of the game.”

TMB 5(13)3 00 — 21 9 2 HLOF 000 00 — 0 2 3 Lanoue (W) and Squires. 2B: Kruse, Sanow. 3B: Hauger.
