Sen. Dahms backs Seifert in senate race

ELECTION 2026

State Sen. Gary Dahms of Redwood Falls announced last week that he has endorsed Marshall businessman Braxton Seifert for the District 15 State Senate seat he has held for the past 16 years.

“I have known Braxton for many years, and he has a broadbased level of experience in the private sector, serving on boards and volunteering in the community,” Dahms said. “He represents the values of this area perfectly.”

Dahms said that Seifert’s family roots go back six generations in the district and that those life-long, more than a century-long family roots will serve him well compared to any other candidate.

Seifert was endorsed by the Republican Party last weekend at their District 15 Convention in Belview. With record turnout, Seifert was endorsed on the first ballot in a three-way race.

“I strongly urge anyone who has supported me to transfer that support to Braxton Seifert to continue strong representation for southwest Minnesota,” Dahms said.

Dahms was first elected to the Senate in 2010 and is currently in his fifth term. In January, he announced that he would not seek re-election.

“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of Senator Dahms,” Seifert said. “I have worked closely with him on both campaigns and on state legislation that is important to our area.”

Senate District 15 encompasses all of Brown, Lac qui Parle, Lyon, Redwood, and Yellow Medicine Counties and portions of Blue Earth and Chippewa counties.
