The Panther softball team split a pair of Camden Conference games with Lakeview on Monday.
Melaina Ankrum went 4-for-5 with two triples in Game 1 as part of a 14-hit attack in an 11-2 victory.
“We really put a lot of pressure on them offensively and never gave them a chance to get in the game,” TMB coach Karl Campbell said.
Alli Dolan, Aliyah Loftness, Bella Martinez and Gretchen Lanoue both had a pair of hits for the Panthers.
Lanoue earned her second win, going seven innings.
“Gretch pitched a very good game,” Campbell said, “and the defense was rock solid behind her.”
Game 2 was a different story. Although TMB outhit the Lakers, the home team drew nine walks.
The Panthers took a 4-3 lead in the fifth on a two-out, two-RBI single, but the Lakers responded with two in their half of the sixth to regain the lead.
“There were a number of close plays the last two innings that didn’t go our way defensively, which when you add an error or two and don’t get those calls it doesn’t usually work out,” Campbell said. “I felt like the team still competed hard.”
TMB (2-1) is at Slayton to take on MCC today (April 16), then turn around to travel to Adrian on Friday to finish off a busy week. They return home on April 21 to face Dawson-Boyd.
