Panther golfers play 1st on home course

TMB golfers last week hit the local course for the first time this spring against Red Rock Central and Wabasso.

The boys won their meet by 20 strokes with a total of 215. Charles Xiong took second with a 46; Trenton Johnson was right behind with a 48 for third place; Gavin Fisher shot a 57 for sixth place; and Tyson Peterson was 10th with a 64.

“This is the first meet we have won in a long time; we have not had a team for boys in a number of years,” TMB coach Michael Munson said. “Charles was tied for first going into the last hole and finished just short of, but had a great round. Trenton was very consistent throughout the round and had a number of great shots. Gavin and Tyson struggled a little for them.”

For the girls, Taylor Munson was fourth with a 57 and Madelyn Elsen placed ninth with a 68.

On a cold and rainy day on April 30 at Stoney Creek Golf Course in Renville, Xiong had a 48 for 13th place; Fischer was 19th with a 50; and Peterson was 29th with a 62. Munson was third with a 52 for the girls.

Playing against a strong wind on April 23 in Canby, Johnson had a 46 for ninth place; Xiong was 15th with a 49; Fischer had a 50 and Peterson a 55.

Munson had a season-best 47, good for fourth overall and Elsen was 12th with a 56.

“Taylor had her best round of the year, and her shot started to look like last year,” Munson said.
