The Milroy Irish opened the 2026 season in style Sunday with a 14-2 drubbing of Sleepy Eye in Sleepy Eye.
The Irish (1-0) used a 14-hit attack and a nine-run fifth inning en route to the victory. Dominic Dolan, Trevor Smith, Derek Smith, Noah Knakmuhs and Tyler Peterson all had two hits, with Trevor Smith, Peterson, Knakmuhs driving in three runs apiece. Anthony Dolan tripled and also knocked in three.
Trevor Smith went the first four innings, allowing one run while striking out six to earn the win.
The Irish will have their home opener on Friday at 7:30 p.m. against the always-tough Raymond Rockets.
