Harold Dwayne Deal was born on August 24, 1931 at the Tracy Hospital. Harold was the son of William (Will) M Deal and Bertha E Deal (Doble) and was baptized at the Tracy Methodist Church, where he was a lifelong member. Harold attended District 21 Country School a mile from the family farm and then went to Tracy High School and graduated in 1949. Harold was in the National Guard and was stationed at Fort Rucker in Alabama for 2 years right after high school. Harold then went back to the family farm and farmed with his father until his father retired.

Harold married Jacqueline ā€œJackieā€ Mae Reinert on June 30, 1956 at Tracy Methodist Church. They lived on Harold’s family farm outside of Walnut Grove for 40 years before moving into their new home in Tracy in December 1996. Through the years, he raised cattle, hogs and chickens and grew corn, soybeans and wheat. Harold and Jackie were named Redwood County Farm Family of the Year in 1994.

Harold actively supported David and Susan as they participated in the Redwood County 4-H program. He served on the Springdale Township Board for many years, the Redwood County Zoning Board and the Redwood County Pork Producers Association. Harold also was very active in the Tracy United Methodist Church serving on a number of church committees and activities, including the Administrative Board. After retirement and moving to Tracy, he was an active volunteer at the Tracy Kitchen Table Food Shelf and the Lions Club. He was also on the board of the Tracy Senior Citizen Center. Harold also enjoyed woodworking and made furniture for family and friends, including 2 china hutches, an armoire, rocking horses, end tables, a sewing cabinet and various other small objects. He also mentored others in their woodworking skills. Harold was also very happy taking care of his lawn and plants, and continued to be engaged in the farm community. To give a young farmer a start in agriculture, Harold rented his farm to his neighbor, Michael Landuyt. Harold lived independently in Tracy, after moving to a twin home in 2020. Both of the Tracy homes were designed and modified by Harold, which he had great joy in doing.

After a brief illness, Harold died on Wednesday April 29th at the Sanford Tracy Medical Center. Harold is survived by his daughter Susan Deal, a brother in law Tom Green, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by his wife Jackie, son David, parents Will and Bertha Deal, parents in law Ervin and Lucille Reinert, sister Wilma (and Norman) Bosch, sister Joanne (and Mal) Biggin, sister in laws Joyce (and Walt) Fust and Kaye Green, and brother in law Chuck (and Lois) Reinert.
