Congratulations TAHS FFA members on a memorable

State Convention

n The Minnesota State FFA Degree is the highest state- level honor, requiring active membership for at least two years, hold the chapter degree, completing 360 hours of agriculture instruction. Candidates must have invested over $2,000 (or 300 hours) in an Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE), completed 25+ hours in community service, and participate in 10 activities above the chapter level. Tracy FFA had four members receive their state degree this year.: Adam Hippe, Connor Lanoue, Elijah Lightfoot, and Lawton Verlinde.

n Elsie Knott placed 1st at state in Agriscience Fair Project in Animals Science Division 3. Elsie’s project consisted of formulating four different early nursery pig diets and feed budgets to measure post- weaning nursery performance and scours. Elsie’s application will advance onto nationals this fall.

n Tracy FFA had seven FFA members and eight application place in the top 3 in the state for their proficiency application. A proficiency application is based on the FFA members supervised agricultural experience which is a job related to agriculture. This can be anything from working on a farm, caring for their animals, having a garden, working at a repair shop, or working in the food industry. At the region level we had 34 applications, top three applications in each region advance onto state. The state then chooses the top 3 overall.

n Elijah Lightfoot, Shelby Johnson, and Katelyn Ruppert all placed first in their proficiency and their applications will advance onto nationals this fall.

n Tracy Area FFA credits much of its success to the strong support of the local community. The chapter extends its sincere thanks to the following businesses and individuals for sponsoring their trip to state convention: Buyck Farms, Erbes Repair, Ideal Animal Nutrition, Joel and Lynn Buyck, Lanoue Poultry, Midwest supply, Mike and Darcy Carlson, Moose’s Mowing Service- Ashton and Taylor Squires, Oeltjenbruns Farms, Premium Plant Services, SanMarBo Farms Inc, Stone Creek Farms, Swenhaugen Family, Tom and Cheryl Lenertz and Michelle and Cory Engen, and Tracy Eagles Aerie 3918.

n The accomplishments of Tracy Area FFA members reflect the impact of agricultural education in developing leadership, career readiness, and a passion for the agricultural industry. As these students continue to grow and succeed, they represent the future of agriculture in their community and beyond.

The Farm Business Management Team placed 19th at state. Lauren Torkelson, 82nd; Johnnie Fransen, 21st; Madelyn Elsen, 120th; Allie Duscher, 152nd. The team is coached by Tonya Duscher.
