Congratulations TAHS FFA members on a memorable State Convention

Congratulations TAHS FFA members on a memorable

State Convention

Members of the Tracy Area FFA chapter showcased their dedication, skill, and leadership at the Minnesota State FFA Convention on April 19–21 in Minneapolis. Tracy Area FFA had its largest group of qualified FFA members attend State FFA Convention that they ever have a total of 71! We had 67 kids attend and compete in CDEs, receive their state degrees, top three in their proficiency and agriscience, participate in choir, and foundation ambassador. With the 67 FFA members that attended we had 11 Career Development Events teams qualify for state FFA convention. Four of our CDE teams placed in the top 10 in the state with two other teams placing 11th and 12th. This year was one for the record books! Through the National Chapter Award application, our chapter was ranked fifth in the state. This ranking is based on 15 activities completed throughout the year, each aligning with specific categories. These categories fall within three key areas of the application: Growing Leaders, Strengthening Agriculture, and Building Communities. From these three areas, state evaluators review all submitted activities and select the top three in each category to be showcased at the state convention. These selections are recognized as finalists. For the first time, our chapter was named a finalist in two areas. We were recognized in Strengthening Agriculture for our “Coffee Connections” activity, where local farmers are invited to join FFA members for breakfast during FFA Week, creating opportunities for conversation and connection. We were also selected as a finalist in Building Communities for our “Help Tuck Them In” partnership, which involved sanding and staining beds for those in need. This project was chosen as the state winner in the Building Communities category and was further recognized as the top overall project in Minnesota.

Hallee Roggatz and Andraela Oeltjenbrus represented the TAHSA chapter for being selected as the 5th chapter in the state.
Ag Mechanics placed 11th at state. Team members consist of Skylar Platt, 56th; Elijah Lightfoot, 25th; Trenton Johnson, 90th; and Mavrick Snyder, 52nd. The team is coached by Mark LaVoy.
Elsie Knott was the state winner in her Agriscience Fair Project in Animal Science.
