Excerpts from past Tracy newspapers 

May 12, 1966 — A Tracy slo-pitch softball league was organized Tuesday evening with six teams competing throughout the summer with the playoffs starting July 20. League play starts May 16. Games will he played on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Legion Field and Breezy Point, possibly starting play at 8:30. Gary Schaar is president of the city league; Clayton Campbell, vice president and Laurie Thoma secretary. Other board members are Bud Strand and Jans Visker.

May 6, 1976 — Members of the Duane M. Peterson Agency bowling team were recently honored for winning the Wednesday Night League championship. Presenting trophies to team members George Erbes, Tom Swenhaugen, Larry Bornitz, Tony Cichanski and Byron Pack was Gary Schaar of Tracy Lanes.

May 14, 1986 — The Scrappers to the tune of a 9-3 victory in the H.H.H. Metrodome. A big second inning began with a free pass to Greg Shaw and a bunt single by Robert Gervais. After a fielder’s choice, Mark Peterson’s single over the infield drove in the first two runs. Steve Mickelson then walked and Tom Doubler drove in Peterson with a single to center. Mickelson then scored on a wild pitch and Doug Hatch walked. That brought Jim West to the plate. With two men on base, West hit a hard, sinking liner to left that rolled all the way to the wall following a diving attempt by Fairmont’s left fielder. West circled the bases with an inside-thepark home run and a 7-0 Tracy-Walnut Grove lead.

May 8, 1996 — The Panther boys finished first and the girls second in the Silver Bullet Relays held in Windom on Thursday. Leading the Panther boys were first-place performances by the 1600 sprint-medley relay team of Luke Ostgaard, Jason Schreier, Brian Luckhardt and Dave Joosten; the winning 4X400 relay team of Lucas Ludeman, Grant Ludeman, Andy Knott and Dave Joosten and a one-two-three finish by Ostgaard, Pat Garvin and Jared Peterreins in the high hurdles. Kris DeRuyck, Leah Gifford, Daisy Schmidt and Julie Gifford were triple winners for the Panthers.

May 10, 2006 — Gary Knott cleared six feet, four inches to win the high jump at the True Team meet in Slayton Monday. Bobbi Buyck placed second in the 100 meter hurdles, and won the 100 meter dash and pole vault.

May 11, 2016 — Last week, the Panthers competed at the Bob Nagle Relays in Pipestone. TMB’s Josh Kirk won the 100 meters, while Caleb Lasley was second in the high jump. Panther Kendra Ludeman won the girls’ high jump with a leap of 5 feet.
