Excerpts from past Tracy newspapers
May 10, 1956 — The sale of Hefte Locker plant to Charles Weisbrech, Balaton, was announced this week. The sale became eective May 1.
Weisbrech, who at present, has a traveling job with the Tri-State Cure and Supply company head-quartered in Chicago, will come here to take personal charge of the business May 15. In the meantime the business continues under present management. Lawrence Hefte, former owner, has been in the locker business here since 1937 and a Tracy businessman for 30 years. He plans to remain in Tracy and will spend the summer at his home on Lake Shetek. After that, his plans are not definite. Weisbrech will move from his present home in Balaton to Tracy as soon as school is out. He is married and has six children.

May 12, 1966 — Grand opening of the Tracy Gamble store, under the new ownership of Frank Voges, will be a three-day aair this weekend opening today and continuing through Saturday. Voges during the past month has been restocking and rearranging the store in preparation for this get-acquainted sale and grand opening. The Third street store was previously operated for five years by Don Meyer. Besides special values, valuable merchandise prizes will be awarded visitors Friday evening and Saturday afternoon. The prize list includes a vacuum cleaner, wrench set, wae iron, set of LP records, paint for an entire room, bathroom equipment, and several boxes of laundry soap.

May 6, 1976 - "1 am going
to support you in ways that I can. I want to investigate this with you and determine what ways we might preserve the school.” That’s what U.S.
Congressman Richard Nolan said to a group of Currie residents Saturday afternoon at Worthington Community College after they requested his help in protesting the closing of the Currie Elementary School recently by the Tracy School Board.
Nolan said he would send a letter to the school board
asking to further review the school closing. "I hesitate to do that because this is a local matter, but there’s nothing more important than the education of children.
I feel I should interject my feelings. I do want to get involved," Nolan said.
Dorothy Ruppert of Currie headed the delegation which spoke to Nolan at about 3:40 p.m. Saturday at the college in Worthington. site of the Sixth District DFL Convention which he specifically was there to attend. The Currie
delegation included seven persons, but many more had planned to attend.

May 14, 1986 — The Tracy Planning Commission has recommended that the city investigate the improvement of Swift Lake Park with a Campground, bathrooms, showers and a picnic shelter.
Rough cost estimates for the improvements are $10,000 to $12,000. The recommendation was passed on to the Tracy City Council Monday night. No final decision was made. But council members did authorize city sta personnel to get more concrete cost estimates on the proposed improvements.
City Administrator Audrey Koopman said planning commission members felt having campground facilities
available in town would be an economic boost to the town. Inquiries and requests about camping are received now, she said, and all would be visitors have to be directed out-of-town. Some council members commented that the park is under utilized now and the improvements would increase usage.

May 8, 1996 — Tracy
American Legion members have spent many hours of their time lately remodeling their new location on the corner of Morgan and Second streets. The inside has a complete face-lift; appliances, chairs and tables have been removed. Legion member Dale Klein said that much elbow grease went into scrubbing down floors, walls and ceilings before new coats of paint were applied. The exterior is also undergoing changes. The building will soon be ready for sure for Legion members and their meetings.

May 10, 2006 — Tracy Kid’s World leaders are encouraged about prospects for the proposed daycare center after meeting with three representatives of the United State Dept. of Agriculture's Rural Development agency. "It was definitely a positive meeting. We are in a lot better position than we were on the day before the meeting," said Mark Preignitz, Kid's World president.

May 11, 2016 — The recommendation of the Tracy Public Schools Technology Committee has been made and their proposal will be brought to the May 16 school board meeting for potential adoption and approval.
If the proposal is adopted as presented the school board will be approving the purchase of Toshiba Tecra C50 Intel ULV Core i5-8GB laptop computers with a 15.6
inch diagonal screen. The cost is $514/laptop. They will upgrade from 500GB HDD to 128G SST for an additional $45. A 4-year warranty was selected for an additional $67/laptop. This brings total cost to $626/laptop.
