Munson earns All-Conference honors; linksters show improvement

Battling wind gusts of up to 30 mph, TMB golfers hit the links in Marshall on Tuesdsay for the Camden Conference meet.

Taylor Munson had her best round of the year when it mattered the most, shooting a 91 for seventh place. Her round moved her up in the conference overall standings, jumping a number of girls, and she made the All-Conference team.

“Taylor managed the conditions very well,” TMB coach Michael Munson said.

Madelyn Elsen had the best 9-hole score of her varsity career with a 52 on the front 9.

“She hit the ball very well, and if she works on her putting will be in the 40s soon,” said coach Munson.

For the Panther boys, Gavin Fischer shot a career-best 92.

“He did a great job of managing the course,” said Munson. “His putting was fantastic. Fischer finished 24th out of 66 golfers.

Trenton Johnson came in with a 93. “He was on a roll in the middle of the round,” said Munson. “He had an eight-hole stretch where he was only 2 over, finishing with a birdie.

Charles Xiong shot a 98 and Tyson Peterson had one of his best rounds, carding a 100.

• At last Thursday’s meet in Tracy, Munson took second place with a 49., and Elsen had her best finish with a 54, good for sixth place. Fischer and Xiong tied for 19th with 48s. Johnson shot a 52 and Tyson Peterson a 55.
