Panthers — hot at the right time — close season with 4 victories

Panthers — hot at the right time — close season with 4 victories
TMC CATCHER TAYLOR SQUIRES scoops a low pitch out of the dirt in last week’s game against Renville County West.

The Panther baseball team exploded for nine runs over the last two innings, en route to a 13-2 win over Pipestone Area on Monday.

TMB had 10 hits on the day, including doubles from Aiden Sanow, Taylor Squires, Jackson Kruse.

In what could be called a “bullpen day,” TMB used four pitchers to stymie the Arrow. Connor Lanoue pitched the first two innings and struck out four; and David Schuh, Brayden Marron and Carson Lanoue each threw on inning.

“Despite the weather, this was the best we have played all year long,” TMB coach James Fultz said. “We had a great day on defense, making every play we needed to. Clean in the error column is great for this group. Overall it was a great way to end the regular season. This was a great game to end on and give all the guys confidence heading into Saturday’s playoff game.”

The Panthers (12-8) will take on Minneota at 1 p.m. on Saturday to open section play. If they win, they will play again that day. A loss would end their season.

MAY 15: TMB 3, RRC/WWG 2

Jackson Kruse allowed just three hits and struck out six as the Panthers downed RRC/WWG 3-2 last Friday.

The Panthers did just a bit more at the plate with five hits from Taylor Squires, David Schuh, Kruse, Griffin Zick and Aiden Sanow. Zick had one RBI.

“Kruse pitched a gem; this was the best he’s looked on the mound this year,” Fultz said. “He had great control and was using all his pitches well. And the lineup did just enough.”

MAY 14: TMB 13, RCW 3

To say the Panthers broke open a tight game against Renville County West last Thursday would be a total understatement. TMB scored eight fifth-inning runs to break a 3-3 tie and won 13-3 in six innings.

Jackson Kruse and Brayden Marron both had three hits; Marron had a double and triple and drove in three runs. Taylor Squires also knocked in three runs, going 2-for-3 at the plate. Carson Lanoue had two hits and three RBI, and David Schuh scored three times.

Schuh struck out 10 in his complete-game win.
