contest winners
Owen Jacobson (left) and Oliver Moua, fifth-graders at Tracy Area Elementary School, were among 13 winners of the Minnesota Council on Economic Education Poster Contest. Oliver’s poster was titled “Goals,” and Owen’s was “Saving.” Their teacher is Lucas Novosad.
Submissions included illustrations of trade, natural resources, needs versus wants, scarcity, opportunity cost, saving, and more. Thirteen students were recognized for their outstanding work, and both teachers and students received cash prizes for the submissions. The number of winners per grade was based on the number of student submissions.
For each submission, students selected an economic or personal finance topic to explore and illustrate. After conducting research, participants created original visuals that depict the concept in action. The competition was structured across multiple grade divisions to encourage an equitable and fun experience for students of all ages.
Entries were evaluated by industry, academic, and community leaders who share a passion for advancing economic and personal finance education in Minnesota.
