TRACY
Three veterans will be honored at this year’s Memorial Day program in Tracy: William Veit, Phil Nelson and Richard Bosacker. Five veterans who have passed away in the last year will also be recognized at this year’s program, which will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at The Caboose. Justin Stoks will give the Memorial Day speech.
GARVIN
The Memorial Day service will be at 10:30 a.m. at Bethel Cemetery northwest of Garvin. Lunch will be provided by Garvin Legion Auxiliary Post 273 at the auxiliary hall for a free will offering. In case of rain, the event will be held at Lake Sarah Lutheran in Garvin.
CURRIE
The Currie American Legion Honor Guard will be at Willow Lake Church at 9 a.m., followed by Pioneer Cemetery at 9:45 a.m., then I.H.M. at 10 a.m. and the bridge at 10:30 a.m. The Memorial Day program at the Currie Fire Hall begins at 11 a.m. The keynote speaker is AnnaLee Fedeler and 50-year continuous members will be honored.
BALATON
A fundraising breakfast presented by the Balaton American Legion as a fundraiser) will be from 7:30-9:30 a.m. at the Balaton Community Center. It is free for veterans and their immediate families; non-veterans can enjoy for a free will offering. The program will be at 10 a.m., with guest speaker Roy Fuhrmann, a 1982 Graduate of Balaton High School, Chief Operating Officer MSP International Airport and Iraq War Helicopter Pilot.
Approximately 20 minutes following the conclusion of the program at the Community Center, a gathering will take place at Lakeside Cemetery, north of town, for the Roll Call of the Deceased, a gun salute and Taps (weather permitting).
MILROY
This year’s program, weather permitting, will be in the park, starting at 10 a.m.
WALNUT GROVE
The program will be at 9:30 a.m. at the school. Coffee and cookies will be served after the placing of the wreaths.
