The Lyon County Board of Commissioners heard an A.C.E. updated from Michelle Baumhoefner, executive director, during their regular meeting Tuesday. Baumhoefner, along with Lyon County project manager Jane Nelson Como, highlighted the many volunteers that have served Lyon County in 2025 and the hours of service.
In Lyon County, 235 volunteers donated 35,442 hours of service at 29 different locations. The hours of service represent a 53% increase in volunteer hours over 2024. A.C.E. also saw an increase of 33 volunteers.
Baumhoefer credited Nelson Como for her hard work in reaching out to volunteers, some that used to volunteer and had stopped for various reasons.
The board did have many questions on funding as much of the funding comes from the federal government. Currently, A.C.E. is in a competitive grant cycle and are awaiting news on the funding. However, the funding application was opened later than usual and that has delayed the announcement of any funding.
