Prairie View News

Prairie View Senior Living was full of color, laughter, entertainment, and special memories this past week as residents and staff celebrated National Nursing Home Week. This year’s theme was “Moments in Bloom.”

Monday’s theme was “Moments of Kindness,” and everyone was invited to dress in bright colors. Residents enjoyed an afternoon game of Bloom Bingo and later gathered to watch the movie Mr. Holland’s Opus. Tuesday was “Thank You Nurses Day” along with “Crazy Hair Day.” The ladies started the morning by gathering to refresh the polish on their nails. In the afternoon, residents enjoyed a special Ladies Tea and dessert while listening to entertainment by Cletus Goblirsch.

Wednesday was “Receptionist Day” and “Hat Day.” The morning began with Chapel led by Vicar Angie, followed by Catholic Communion led by Mary Ann B. In the afternoon, residents painted their own flower pots.

Thursday’s theme was “Laugh and Dance” along with “Silly Sock Day.” In the morning, Prairie View welcomed visitors from St. Mary’s 3rd and 4th grade classes. The students spent time playing games, reading books, and visiting with the residents. In the afternoon, the owners of BIG Roots Family Farm to help residents plant flowers in pots they had painted the day before.

Friday was “Flower Power Day,” and everyone was encouraged to wear floral prints.

Bingo winners were Joyce and Vida. Prairie View would like to thank everyone who helped make National Nursing Home Week so special. A very special thank you goes to the St. Mary’s students and teachers for spending quality time with the residents, to Cletus Goblirsch for providing wonderful entertainment for residents and their families, and to BIG Roots Family Farm for taking the time to help residents plant their very own flowers. It was a beautiful week filled with blooming moments, meaningful connections, and many smiles at Prairie View Senior Living.
