SUB-SECTION 3A TRACK & FIELD

A number of TMB track and field athletes qualified for the finals of the Section 3A Track and Field Meet at last Thursday’s Sub-Section South Meet in Luverne, including Elijah Lightfoot, who continued his strong spring by sweeping the triple jump and long jump events.

The senior took first in the long jump at 19’-03” and first in the triple jump at 40’-01”.

Other TMB qualifiers for the finals were Hunter Ostgaard, second in the 200-meter run at 23.38; Owen Beier, fourth in the 1,600 meter run at 5:23.15; RaeLynn Schreier, third in the 100-meter hurdles at 17.14 and sixth in the 100-meter run at 13.48; each of the boys’ relay teams; Talon Brinkley, sixth in the 110-meter hurdles at 18.95; Auden Ortiz, sixth in the 300-meter hurdles at 47.10 and eighth in the 110-meter hurdles; the girls’ 4x100 relay team (54.58); Samuel Lightfoot, fourth in the 300-meter hurdles at 46.34; Noah Schmidt in the pole vault with a height of 8’-10”; Elizabeth Buyck, seventh in the pole vault at 7’-02”; and Linaye Schreier fifth in the triple jump at 31’-3.50”.

The TMB boys finished fifth overall, and MCC was first. For the girls, the Panthers were eighth; Luverne was first.

Finals are scheduled for 2 p.m. (field events) today (May 28) in Pipestone.

IT WAS A CLEAN SWEEP in the triple jump and long jump for Elijah Lightfoot at last Thursday’s Sub-Section 3A Track and Field Meet.

AVA LIGHTFOOT cleared 5’-02” in the pole vault at sub-sections in her first varsity competition in that event.
