Excerpts from past Tracy newspapers 

May 31, 1956 — Jim McCormick, Tracy high school trackster, set a new Region III record in the meet at Montevideo Saturday. Hutchinson nosed out Marshall 23-22 for the championship. Besides McCormick’s 2:02.5 time which set a new record, Al Pool got fifth in the discus, and Jim Prouty took fifth in the 440.

June 2, 1966 — Coach Chuck Peterson’s high school golf team captured its first District 9 championship in history Saturday by a single stroke margin over Marshall, the perennial title winner. Three underclassmen headed by medalist Steve Ostgaard (Warren Bjornebo and Mark Donaldson) helped turn the trick will represent Tracy in the Region III event at Hutchinson Friday.

May 27, 1976 — Junior Dave Peterson of Tracy High School has qualified for next week’s State Class A Golf Tournament at the Willmar Country Club after posting the fifth best score in the Region 3 Golf Meet on Tuesday afternoon at Redwood Falls. Competing in a regional field of 36 golfers from Districts 9, 10, 11 and 12, Peterson carded an 18-hole score of 80 (40-40) to win the fifth and final berth for the state meet June 2-3 in Willmar.

June 4, 1986 — Tracy sprinter Doug Neisess won the 200 meter dash and placed second in the 100 meter dash Friday at the Region 3A meet in Montevideo to qualify in both events for this weekend’s State Meet. The junior won the 200 meter event with a time of 23.5 seconds and placed behind Granite Falls’ Shane Kling in the 100 meter dash.

May 29, 1996 — The Panther girls’ track team extended their string or sub-section and district championships Thursday. Kris and Kim DeRuyck were the top point scorers for the girls. Kris DeRuyck captured both the 100 meter and 300 meter hurdles and set a new meet record in the process. Her time of 15.16 in the 100 meter hurdles eclipsed the record of 15.2 set by Arika Sanders in 1994.

May 31, 2006 — The Panther baseball team opened the Section 3AA double elimination tournament play with a 6-1 win over RRC/W-WG at Windom Saturday. Derek Radke pitched the whole game for Tracy/Milroy/Balaton and gave up only 1 run on 5 hits while striking out 9 and walking 2. Radke’s curve ball was particularly effective in keeping the Falcon hitters off balance.

June 1, 2016 — The Section 3A track meet at Redwood Falls Thursday afternoon will qualify two athletes in each individual event and the top relay team to state. Junior Kendra Ludeman won the girls’ high jump by clearing five feet, three inches. TMB senior Josh Kirk was clocked at 11.54 in the 100 meters to finish third in the 100 meters.
