Windom’s Annual Riverfest celebration in June is a busy time for the Sons of Norway Stavanger Lodge 1-538 members as they are in preparation for their annual tasty fundraising event.
Held for many years during Riverfest, the Lodge hosts its wellknown “Scandinavian Smorgasbord.” This open-to-the-public Smorgasbord offering great food will be held on Saturday, June 13, serving from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Located at the Cottonwood County Historical Society, 812 4th Ave. in Windom, the Smorgasbord offers a considerable variety of Norwegian, Swedish, and Danish delicacies. Probable food choices are scrumptious open-faced sandwiches, handmade lefse, rhubarb tort and other desserts, krumkake, and other tasty treats. Coffee and lemonade will also be available.
There will be a bake sale including breads, desserts, cookies, bars and, of course, packages of lefse available for purchase.
In addition to enjoying the delicious Scandinavian food items, there is time to socialize and enjoy the decorated surroundings in red, white and blue in the friendly environment.
