Excerpts from past Tracy newspapers
June 7, 1956 — Tracy won its second straight Southwestern Minny baseball game Sunday by subduing Balaton 5-1. Ken (Lefty) Knutson scattered four hits for the verdict. Knutson had a no-hitter for four innings as he retired 15 men in order. The leading hitter for the Engineers was Bob Shaw who hit twice in four trips to the plate.
June 9, 1966 — Ken Bicek won his way into the state track meet Friday and Saturday in two events at the Region III meet at Marshall Saturday. Bicek took first in the broad jump with a 20’-1/2-inch leap and second in the high hurdles with a 16.7 second effort. His fourth place in the low hurdles gave him a 12-point total for Tracy.
June 3, 1976 — A basketball coach was among the three instructors hired by the school board Thursday night to complete the faculty for the 1976-77 school term. Robert Ladehoff, a native of Windom and graduate of Bemidji State University, will teach senior social studies and coach basketball. He comes to Tracy after a year at Arkansaw, WI, and two years at Melrose-Mindoro, WI.
June 11, 1986 — Tracy’s Doug Neisess qualified for the finals in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes at the Minnesota State High School League Track and Field Championships with two determined efforts. He parlayed those efforts into a sixth and eighth place finish at the State Meet, coming away satisfied with his experience. His time of 11.33 seconds in the 100 was the sixth best qualifying time. His time of 22.95 seconds in the 200 meters was the eighth best qualifying time.
June 5, 1996 — Sarah Hayes came through with her best effort of the season at sections to set a school record and qualify for state in the discus. Her long throw was 118 feet.
2006 — N/A June 8, 2016 — Two Panther track entries have qualified for the Class A state track meet. Kendra Ludeman qualified for her fourth consecutive state meet, by winning the Section 3A girls’ high jump competition last week in the Section 3A meet in Redwood Falls. Also, TMB’s 4x400-meter girls’ relay team of Catherine Wendland, Kendra Nelson, Alecia Christian, and Ludeman clocked a 4:13.34 to beat the state qualifying time.
