Irish,Yankees drop 1-run games
The Milroy Irish dropped a tough 4-3 decision to the Windom Pirates on Sunday.
Windom won the game with a run in the bottom of the 11th after tying the game at 3-3 in the ninth.
The Irish scored all of their runs in the first inning.
Derek Smith had three hits and scored a run, and Trevor Smith, Tyler Peterson, Andrew Wallen, Anthony Dolan and Moses Dolan all had one hit apiece.
Trevor Smith went the first five innings, allowing two runs. Craig Lasley pitched two scoreless innings, Derek Smith threw two innings and Mason Javers pitched the final one-third of an inning and suffered the loss.
The Irish were coming off a nice 14-4, eight-inning win over Stark on May 29. Connor Lanoue picked up the win, as he scattered 10 hits over six innings.
Griffin Zick had two hits, knocked in three runs and scored twice, and Dominic Dolan and Andrew Wallen both drove in two runs. Trevor Smith scored three runs.
The Irish will play in Faribault this Friday and in Montgomery on Saturday before returning home against Lakefield at 2 p.m. on June 7 to start a three-game homestead at Irish Yard.
HADLEY EDGES YANKEES
David Schmidt had a home run and drove in four runs, but it wasn’t quite enough as the Yankees fell to Hadley 9-8 on Sunday.
Joey Liebl added four hits, and along with Jackson Hughes and Mauer Lesey, had a double as Milroy outhit the Buttermakers 11-8.
The Yankees host Granite Falls at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and are at Willmar on Sunday.
