Excerpts from past Tracy newspapers 

June 21, 1956 — Tracy Midgets defeated the Currie Midgets 9-1 Friday at Currie. The local team garnered seven hits to three for Currie and played errorless ball. Top hitters were Douglas Sandes two for two, Larry Walterman two hits in four trips, Danny Kurtz two hits in four trips, and Russell Shoeman got one in four official times at bat.

June 23, 1966 — Tracy’s Legion team whipped Ghent 9-0 Thursday night to stay unbeaten in league competition. Ron Shaw turned in a two-hit shutout as Ghent made 10 errors afield to aid their downfall.

June 17, 1976 — Tracy golfer Ric McClellan, with a one-over par 109, paced 102 players in the Tracy-Tyler-Westbrook Triple-Crown Golf tournament won by Westbrook over their own dry Rolling Hills Course on Sunday. McClellan played even par 36 on the first round, shot 40 on the second round and then fired a three-under 33 over the last nine-hole round in the championship flight. Two other Tracy golfers, Brian McClellan and David Peterson, tied for second place honors with scores of 118-nine more strokes than it took the pace-setter to tour the parched and windy Westbrook country club.

June 25, 1986 — Brenda Frisvold, South Dakota State University senior from Tracy, hit .318 for the Jackrabbit softball team this spring. Frisvold, who played third base and outfield, led the team in hits, with 27; runs scored, with 18; doubles, with six; and shared the team lead in runs batted in, with 11.

June 19, 1996 — The Tracy VFW Baseball Team improved its season record to 7-0 with an easy 13·2 win over Morgan at Tracy Friday evening. The game was shortened to five innings by the ten-run rule. Freshman Brendan Rolle improved his pitching record to 3-0, going 5 innings on the mound facing 21 hiitters. He allowed 2 runs on 2 hits while striking out 8 and walking 2.

June 21, 2006 — Panther baseball standout Matt Bauer will play in the 32nd annual Lion’s All-Star tournament in Chaska Thursday through Saturday. Now playing for the Milroy Legion and Milroy Yankee baseball teams, Bauer led area prep hitters this spring with 34 hits in 62 at bats and a .548 average. Bauer had nine doubles, three home runs and had 24 RBI.

June 22, 2016 — Josh Kirk, former standout Panther athlete, has been practicing this week for a state all-star football game. Kirk will be playing in the Minnesota Football Coaches Association’s annual North-South all-star football game Saturday, June 25, at St. Cloud State University.
