June 28, 1956 — Ken Lewis kept his blistering plate average alive with two hits in four trips, but Walnut Grove lost to Lamberton 8-2 in a Redwood County League game.
June 30, 1966 — The local Legion baseball team moved to the top of the southern division league standings Tuesday night with a high-scoring 16-11 win over Balaton. Bob Shoeman pitched for Tracy and along with Tom Keul and Scott Drever had three hits.
June 24, 1976 — Dale Anderson’s two-out hit with the bases loaded in the eighth inning scored a pair of runs and lifted the Balaton Barons to a 20-18 championship game win Sunday evening in the Walnut Grove Bicentennial Festival Tournament at Plum Creek Park. Balaton seemed to have the game in hand 18-14 after Bill Kunze and Neil Scharfe each socked home runs. However, Jeffers came back to knot the score 18-18 in the seventh on a two-run homer by pitcher Russ Hanish. and then a two-out double by Terry Pudenz that scored Virgil Carter. Pudenz was thrown out on a close play at third base that ended the inning.
July 2, 1986 — In a game called by darkness, Laurie Thoma’s VFW baseball team rallied for three runs in the bottom of the 7th to tie Morgan 12-12. Tracy collected six hits to Morgan’s nine. Matt Rettmer had three hits, Mark Turner two and David Peterson one for Tracy. Paul West, Brian Story and Gene Kolar all pitched for Tracy. Tracy’s league record is 1-1.
June 26, 1996 — It was a good week for the Milroy Legion baseball team. The squad extended their season record 11-1 by topping Sleepy Eye 1-0 Tuesday, Montevideo 5-1 Monday and winning an eight-team tournament in Wheaton over the weekend. Ryan Rohlik’s run-scoring single in the bottom of the seventh keyed the victory against Sleepy Eye. Jeff Dolan pitched all the way for Milroy. Against Montevideo Jerry Reminger cracked a home-run to pace Milroy. Andy Lanoue was the winning pitcher.
June 28, 2006 — The Tracy VFW baseball team swept a double header from Dawson-Boyd Thursday night 4-0 and 8-6 at Milroy. Brian Schlager pitched a nohitter in the first game, striking out 7 and walking 4. Anthony Dolan, Kayne Zwaschka and Schlager each garnered doubles to lead the offense. In the second game Alex Jones started and pitched the first 4 innings. Casey Polzine pitched the last 2 innings and got the win. Tyler Bauer led the attack with 2 hits in 3 trips to the plate and had 4 RBI.
June 29, 2016 — A three-run sixth inning lifted the Marshall Black to a 7-4 win over the Tracy VFW Thursday at the Milroy Yankee Park. Fans were treated to a well-pitched, close game that saw a 2-2 tie after four. Tracy scored two in the bottom of the fourth. Caleb Nordsiden singled with one out, and moved around to score when Marshall pitcher Nick Klaith allowed the next three runners on a walk and two hit batsmen. Jake Byrne walked to drive in Tracy’s second run. But Tracy left the sacks filled.
