The Milroy Irish split a pair of games Sunday, edging Fox Lake 7-6 and losing to Fairmont 5-3.
Against the Foxes, the Irish got down 3-0 in the first inning before fighting their way back with a run in the second, two in the third, three in the fourth and one more in the fifth.
Trevor Smith got the win, going six innings. He was also 2-for-3 at the dish with two RBI and a run scored. Tyler Peterson also had two hits, and Andrew Wallen had a big double and knocked in three runs.
The Irish got off to another slow start against Fairmont, as they spotted the Martins five first-inning runs. This time, however, their rally fell short, as they were blanked over the final three innings.
Dominic Dolan had a pair of hits and an RBI. Milroy had just two other singles, by Wallen and Noah Knakmuhs. Derek Smith drew three walks.



Connor Lanoue suffered the tough-luck loss. He allowed four earned runs and struck out six.
The Irish will host Brookings at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 10.

Connor Lanoue and Craig Lasley combined to hold the Marshall A’s to just three hits in a 3-0 Irish win last Wednesday night.
Lanoue started and pitched 4-2/3 scoreless innings. Lanoue struck out four and Lasley struck out six in this 4-plus innings of work.
Dominic Dolan led the way offensively with three hits and two runs. Derek Smith had a single and an RBI.
JUNE 26: IRISH 11, LAMBERTON 1
Derek Smith hit a grand slam, Noah Knakmuhs had three hits and two RBI and Tyler Peterson knocked in three runs in an 11-1 win over Lamberton last Friday.
The Irish broke a 1-1 tie with three runs in the third inning. They broke it open with a five-run fifth.
Carson Javers started for Milroy, going five innings to earn the win. Peterson finished the Long Sox off with three scoreless innings.
Ashton Squires, one of a number of former Panthers on the field that day, suffered the loss.
