Jackson Kruse struck out 12 in the complete-game victory as Tracy defeated Wabasso 2-1 in the 18U summer league championship.
Tracy had just four hits, but Kruse limited Wabasso to only two.
Brody Hauger hit a goahead double in the seventh inning for the deciding run.
Aiden Sanow and Cal Lanoue scored Tracy’s runs. Sanow scored on Hauger’s double, Lanoue on a wild pitch.
The other hits for Tracy came from Taylor Squires, Lanoue and Kruse.
“The team really care out with a different mindset and ready to go,” coach Connor Lanoue said. “The bats weren’t always clocking throughout the game and it was a grind, but the focus was always there.”
Lanoue said Andrew Hippe came up a big catch in the seventh, potentially preventing the tying run from scoring.
“Everybody contributed and was locked in from the start, which is something they haven’t consistently shown in every game this summer,” Lanoue said.
