City of Tracy lands state financing for water project

State Rep. Chris Swedzinski, R-Ghent, announced Tuesday that Tracy is receiving nearly $270,000 to replace lead service lines within its drinking water infrastructure system.

The funding is provided under the Lead Service Line Replacement Program in the form of a Project Order agreement. The project consists of 16 lead service line replacements, facilitated by a principal forgiveness grant of $128,820 and a 0-percent loan of $69,365.

The LSLR Program has been funded through federal capitalization grants from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to the Minnesota Public Facility Authority’s Drinking Water State Revolving Fund, and state appropriations to MPFA.

“Congratulations to everyone in Tracy who worked to secure this funding,” Swedzinski said in a news release. “This funding will help move the project forward while reducing the financial impact on local taxpayers and ensuring residents continue to have access to safe, reliable drinking water.”
