Lake Benton Valley Journal Firefighters from three communities responded Tuesday evening after smoke was reported coming from the former Homer’s Bar building in downtown Lake Benton. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but arson was not ruled out.

The Tyler Area Community club has announced its choice for 2026 Citizen of the Year — Tyler Library Director Shelly Finzen. Finzen is married to her husband of 31 years, Ivan. She took over her current position in 2020.
