ROYO at it again
Local kids are lucky in many ways these days, and they’re too young to realize it. But if you ask them about the Returning Our Youth Outdoors group, it might very well dawn on them how fortunate they truly are to have a group of grownups looking out for them like they do.
Last weekend, ROYO teamed up with Balaton Bay Golf Course to host a youth golf outing. More than five dozen kids from all around the area took part, and not only got to golf for free, but left the event with a pretty cool prize and some good memories.
That’s the cool hook of ROYO — every time a kid attends one of these free events, they leave with something. At the golf tourney, prizes ranged from kayaks and BB guns, to a set of youth golf clubs, footballs and basketballs.
Again, how lucky they are. ROYO puts on outings like Sunday’s all the time, whether it’s, golf, fishing or carnival-like events. Why? For the kids, of course. And the best part for you parents out there, not only do these events expose your children to outside-the-box things, it gets them away from their screens, if only for a few weekend hours.
Well done, Balaton Bay Golf Course. And well done, ROYO — you continue to make all of us adults wish we were kids again.
