Aug. 16, 1956 — The 1956 football campaign for Tracy high school gridders gets underway Monday night at 7 p.m. when coach Leo Sebastian will issue equipment at the high school. All grid candidates in grades 9 through 12 will report for drills including nine lettermen. Twelve lettermen will not be back and more than a half dozen were varsity regulars which leaves a big hole to be filled.

Aug. 18, 1966 — Women golfers of the Tracy Country Club will battle it out on the fairways next Tuesday for the club championship and honors in the several flights of the annual women’s club tournament. Margaret Johnson, women’s club champion the past six years, will be defending her title.

Aug. 12, 1976 — Brothers Bryce and Todd Pack, along with Charlie Hayes, emerged as the heroes Sunday when the Tracy Engineers trimmed archrival Milroy 5-4 in 10 innings to win their third consecutive southwest Minny League championship. In the last of the 10th inning Tracy loaded the bases with two outs and with a 3-2 count, Bryce Pack dumped a hit over third base just short of the left fielder to score the winning run.

Aug. 20, 1986 — Mary Enderson and Lota Hannasch turned in the low number of putts last week in women’s league play at the Tracy Country Club. The women had 12 and 14 putts, respectively. Team five was the winner in the last night of regular league play.

Aug. 14, 1996 — Fifty-six aspiring Panther football players, grades 9-12, reported for season opening workouts this week. “We should be better if our line can perform up to expectations,” said Coach Gale Otto. “I can already see some improvement in our quickness and strength due to the weight program.”
