Railroad heritage connects Tracy to author’s SW Minnesota family story

Join author Naomi Yaeger, whose family has deep roots in southwest Minnesota, and her banjo-playing husband, Terry Larson, for an engaging presentation at the Tracy Public Library on Thursday, Aug. 20, at 6:30 p.m.

When Tracy was founded, the railroad laid the foundation for the community the city continues to celebrate today. As Yaeger visits Tracy as part of her southwest Minnesota book tour, that railroad heritage takes on a personal meaning. Her grandfather, Russell Minehart, served as the railroad depot agent in nearby Avoca, where the railroad was the lifeline of another prairie town and where many of the stories in “Blooming Hollyhocks: Tales of Joy During Hard Times” have their roots.
