They include Jim Prouty, Jeb Monge, Curt Jette, Elrick Gregoire, Richard Sammons, Ingvold Frisvold, Bill Knutsen, Roger Krueger and David Daniels. Twelve lettermen and regulars graduated last year. “We lack experience,” said coach Leo Sebastian, “but they certainly have the proper attitude and the old spirit is there.”
Sept. 1, 1966 — Milroy, champion of Region 4B, will play either Elk River or Delano in its first state tournament game at Belle Plalne Saturday at 8 p.m. The Yankees won the deciding game in the best-ofthree championship series from Granite Falls at Cottonwood Monday night. The score was 2-1. Catcher Merle Fischer and pitcher Bill Manguson supplied the one-two punch with four hits — two, apiece — to clinch the title.
Aug. 26, 1976 — The first regular meeting of the Tracy Quarterback Club will be Tuesday, Aug. 31 at the teacher’s lounge of Tracy High School. Outgoing club president Herman Wilking will be replaced for 1976 by Don Hannig of Tracy. Warren Lessman of Tracy is secretarytreasurer, and the club will soon be electing a new vicepresident. Scrapper Coach Gale Otto will show a film from Saturday’s scrimmage.

Aug. 28, 1996 — Chris Bassett, 1991 Tracy graduate, is busily engaged in two a day football practices as the National Champion Nebraska Cornhuskers prepare for the opening game of the 1996 football season. Chris, a junior at Nebraska, finished last season as a third team outside linebacker and is hoping to become second on the depth chart at defensive end by the time of the first game. “Anyone who thinks those football players do not work hard has been misinformed,” said Chris’ brother, Chuck, who rooms with him at Nebraska.
Aug. 30, 2006 — Numbers on the Panther volleyball team are thin at the high school level this year. Only nine players are out for volleyball in the junior and senior classes, and none from the sophomore class. The lack of numbers has caused some problems for the squad. Tracy-Milroy-Balaton also have some injury issues to overcome. Emily Scharfe is recovering from shoulder surgery and Michele Lanoue from knee surgery.
Aug. 31, 2016 — One year ago, Roger Benson was coaching junior high volleyball. This fall he’s the head soccer coach for the Plum Creek Penguins. He’s succeeded Brian Michelson, who stepped down from the position this spring. “I’m learning right along with the kids,” the Tracy Area High School science teacher says. Benson decided to apply for the post because he didn’t want students to lose the soccer opportunity for lack of a coach.
