Excerpts from past Tracy newspaper

Sept. 8, 1966 — Two pass completions — one for 40 yards and the other for 19 in the final minute of play netted Redwood Falls a touchdown Friday night to tie the Tracy Scrappers 13-13 in the season’s opener for both clubs. Jerry Kathman scored both of the Scrappers’ touchdowns.
Sept. 2, 1976 — Richard Milinkovich has two less players to coach on his team at Milroy High School than when he coached a squad last year at New Prague High School. The Spartans play Friday night at Balaton to open the 1976 season. Returning letterwinners include Joel Lanoue, Ken Marks, Berdel McCoy, John Dedaut and Steve Louwagie.
Sept. 10, 1986 — About a yard and a half. Four and a half feet. That’s all that separated the newly named Tracy-Milroy Panthers from a tie and a possible victory Friday night. But it was not to be. Time ran out for the Panthers as Bird Island-Lake Lillian-Danube eked out a 12-6 win. It was a game in which Tracy-Milroy controlled the statistical end of the battle. The Panthers ran up 270 total yards to the 146 BILD managed. And, according to Head Coach Gale Otto, “any time a high school team gains almost 300 yards that should compute to three or four touchdowns.” But all the Panthers could muster was one. That came at the 2:47 mark of the second period on a 10-yard Tim Goerish pass to Tom Nelson.
Sept. 4, 1996 — The Tracy-Milroy volleyball team won their opening match at Springfield Tuesday night by a 3-0 score. Kris DeRuyck led the Panthers with 17 kills, Nadine Brandt had 10 and Stephanie Welvaert 8. Nancy Ankrum led in serving with 6 aces.
Sept. 6, 2006 — The Panther football team came back from a 14-0 first half deficit to gain an exciting, last minute 1514 opening game win over Canby at Canby last Thursday. Seth Swan had rushing touchdowns of 65 and 7 yards for the Panthers.
Sept. 7, 2016 — Senior wide receiver Spencer Smith and quarterback Nash Mayer clicked early on a 54-yard touchdown play for Tracy-Milroy-Balaton’s first score of the season in a 28-8 win over Sleepy Eye. Junior back Moses Dolan added scoring runs of 16 and 60 yards.
