Jackels leads TMB runners in first meet

Lainey Jackels took sixth place at the Lakeview Cross Country Invitational on Monday with a PR of 22:03.9. Taking second for the girls was Miranda Mischke at 24:23.9 Other TMB varsity finishers were Evelyn Rentschler, 33th at 28:46.6; Ellah Barker, 39th at 36:31.0; and Jaeda Nelson, 39:13.9.

For the Panther boys, Noah Schmitt was 17th overall with a PR of 20:03.7; Owen Beier finished right behind with a time of 20:06.4; Weston Marten was 21st at 20:35.1; Taylor Squires took 23rd at 20:46.8; Zach Jones was 34th at 22:55.2 (PR); Jackson Jenniges was 38th at 23:13.3; Sam Wiborg was 46th at 24:22.2; Tyson Peterson finished in 48th place at 25:09.4; Karson Schneider was 52nd at 26:13.2; Gatlin Struchen was 58th at 27:25.8; and Jaxter Pfarr was 61st at 29:00.2 “I feel like the kids did a great job,” Panther coach Billy Dean said. “It was a pretty warm day today, and the kids battled through Overall, I was happy with the effort today, but know that there is always room to improve, and I look forward to getting in a week-and-a-half of good practice before our next meet which is at home on Thursday, September 10th.”

JUNIOR VARSITY

Allie Duscher was 9th with a time of 10:33.4, just ahead of Josie Birman at 10:43.4. Stella Munson was 12th at 11:27.1; Jayda Snyder was 15th at 12:29.7; and Payton Daniels was

17th at 13:41.2 For the boys, Max Swick led the way with an 11th-place finish

(8:41.2); and Colin Nelson was 13th at 8:51.6. Other runners included Keagan Jenniges (16th at 9:20); Trenton Daniels (17th at

9:24.1); Xander Brinkley (24th at 11:27.8); Trajan Swanjord (25th at 11:42.4); Vincent Munson (27th at 12:22.3); Justin Hernandez (28th at 13:21.6); and Cohen Radke (29th at 14:31.3).

“For all of these kids, it was their first meet of the year, and for a lot of them, it was their first meet ever,” Dean said. “They are all figuring out what it means to run in a race, the proper pace you need to run to start, in the middle, and to finish the race strong. I think a lot of them figured out today that cross country is takes a lot of mental toughness.”
