Sept. 6, 1956 — The luckiest man in the city of Tracy on Monday night, Box Car Day, was Jim Moran of Tracy. The reason? He won a 1956 “Catalina” Pontiac, given away by the Civic and Commerce Association. Jim said, “I sure feel great — just flabbergasted. When my name was called, I didn’t even realize it was mine until the fellow sitting next to me said ‘That’s you’. It was certainly a pleasant surprise.” He had two tickets on the car, one purchased six weeks ago and the lucky number purchased on Sunday evening. It was given away following the Queen Coronation in the city park. Jim plans to sell his old car, a 1953 model.

Sept. 8, 1966 — Tom Rothwell was elected president of the Tracy Community Chest organization at its annual meeting held Thursday night in the bank basement. He succeeds Winston Peterson who headed the Chest Organization the past two years. Elected vice-president was Clarence Getting. Mrs. Arvid Larson succeeds Mrs. Faye Von Borkern as secretary.

Sept. 2, 1976 — A small group of Tracy High School students have been involved the past month with a painting improvement project at the City Park band shell in Tracy. Under the supervision of city police officer Larry Rosenkilde, the students have painted the band shell with red, white and blue colors under a Bicentennial salute to 76 theme. Paint for the project was purchased by the City of Tracy.

Sept. 10, 1986 — Political candidates sometimes have trouble doing well with voters in their hometowns. But that wasn’t true in Cal Ludeman’s landslide win Tuesday in the I-R gubernatorial primary. The 1969 Tracy High School graduate netted 99 percent of the I-R votes in Tracy, receiving 508 votes to 4 for six-term Bloomington mayor James Lindau. Statewide, Ludeman also did well. With 96% of statewide precincts counted, Ludeman had captured 77 % of the I-R vote, compared with 15% for Lindau. “I feel awfully good,” Ludeman told a television reporter at 10:15 p.m. the night of his victory. He said he looked forward to getting Governor Rudy Perpich out of the governor’s mansion and onto the playing field for a debate of the issues during the fall campaign.

Sept. 4, 1996 — Former students and faculty from St. Mary’s School attended a reunion mass and dinner on Sunday. The 10:15 a.m. mass was followed by a dinner at the Mediterranean Club. Approximately 325 were on hand to talk over their memories of school days at St. Mary’s. Father Douglas Grams said he was very pleased at the turnout. “We quickly outgrew our plans to have the dinner in the church basement. When the numbers started getting over 275, we made arrangements to have dinner at the Mediterranean Club. The people said they enjoyed returning to their former school and many pleasant memories were shared,” said Grams. A program of slides and photographs kicked off the program and former faculty members gave brief talks. Memories of former students and faculty were put into a booklet for the enjoyment of the guests.

Sept. 6, 2006 — The Minnesota Twins will honor Art “Spider” Marben and Mark “Spike” Dolan at the Metrodome prior to the Twins’ game with the Detroit Tigers Sunday. Marben and Dolan are two of 20 Minnesota amateur baseball players from the 1940s and ‘50s who will be honored in pre-game ceremonies.
Sept. 7, 2016 — Taylor Campbell is the new Miss Tracy. The daughter of Karl and Diane Campbell, was named Miss Tracy, 2017, Monday night at Tracy Area High School. Lexi Tauer, daughter of Bill and Shelly Tauer, was selected as first runner-up. Hannah Brockway, daughter of Dr. Bill and Kathy Brockway, was announced as second runnerup.
