Sept. 13, 1956 - The Tracy
forward wall was charging while the Windom line was not in a 14-0 Scrapper win. From the very beginning the spirited Scrapper attack, although hampered by penalties, kept constant pressure on a determined Eagle eleven. Red Sammons threw a TD pass to Butch Gregoire, and Curt Jette scored on a short run.
Sept. 17, 1966 - Jim Haugan of Lucan quickly became famous late Saturday afternoon when he canned his tee shot on the 154-yard No. 2 hole at the Tracy Country Club for a hole-in-one. Haugan, who reportedly has played only four or five rounds of golf, used a No. 3 iron on his ace shot that was witnessed by his playing companions, L. C. "Pat" Patterson and H. W. Jensen, also of Lucan. Mrs.
Gordon Mattson, standing up on the hill playing No.
7 fairway, was in the best position to see Haugan’s ball bounce twice on the green and then it was gone in the cup.
Haugan's ace was the first since Sam Crouse sank his tee shot on the 138-yard No. 8 hole August 18. 1963, and the sixth of record on the course.
Sept. 9, 1976 - Four
touchdowns in the second half broke a 6-6 halftime deadlock and gave Balaton a 36-14 win over Milroy’s Spartans in the opening game for both teams last Friday at Balaton. Steve Louwagie had a scoring run for the Spartans, and Steve
Borchert ran one in for the Warriors.
Sept. 17, 1986 - Jon Otto, Tracy, finished fourth in his division in the annual ten kilometer Turkey Trot in Worthington Saturday. Otto, running in the men’s 17 and under age division, completed the 10-kilometer course around Lake Okabena in a time of 41:46. He finished 132nd out of 405 runners.
Sept. 11, 1996 - All 27 points in a 27-0 Panther win over ACGC were scored by senior running back Rick Johnson on three touchdowns, three extra points and two field goals of 35 and 39 yards.
Sept. 13, 2006 - Panther
cross country runners continued to improve their performances at the Marshall Invitational Monday. The Panther boys were fifth and the girls eighth at the Marshall Invitational Monday. The boys were led by a fourth-place from Ryan Tholen, Ryan also finished first in the Panther Invitational this week.
Sept. 14, 2016 - The
Panther girls showed their mettle in placing fourth among 12 teams at their home invitational at the Tracy Country Club Thursday.
Alecia and Brooke Christian paced the Panthers. Alecia placed 19th among 76 runners with a time of 22:25. Brooke was 21st at 22:35.
